epoll provides socket-data readiness notifications on Linux. SELECT mode is generally limited to 1,024 file descriptors, and one RTSP client session requires eight sockets.
epoll mode allows ITVDesk to support configurations that require more simultaneous RTSP client sessions than SELECT mode can handle.
